I was reading my last blog (somewhat dated) which contained a warning to beware of plant disease this summer due to excessive heat and humidity. Almost the entire mid-west has endured record breaking temperatures this summer. In addition, we are one inch away from having the highest rainfall in any summer on record. Unfortunately for me, this has resulted in almost a total loss of crop in my vegetable garden this summer, except for the early crop of snap beans. No peppers, no cucumbers, no squash, and few tomatoes. If you have ever been an avid fan of a sports team, you know that after a disastrous season, there is always hope for next year. Such is gardening! I am sure that next year will be a perfect growing season and all will be well. Hope your summer was productive and fun-filled!
