When I was just a little boy, my folks moved into a new house in the suburbs of Milwaukee. When the time came to put in some landscaping, my Dad did something I remember to this day. He purchased five trees, one for each member of the family. My sister and I were charged with the “care” of our appointed tree. We took pride in watering, pruning, and watching our trees grow. My Dad has always had a wonderful appreciation for nature and I think he wanted to instill that in us as well. Sharing your love of gardening with your children is a great way to bond with your kids and create life-long memories.
