Do you have trees, shrubs or a lawn that exhibits persistent yellowing of the leaves? This could be caused by a plant condition called iron chlorosis, or a lack of iron in the plant. Iron is an important micro nutrient in the development of chlorophyll, which is responsible for the green. An article by Michael Kuhns, Extension Forestry Specialist at Utah State University Forestry Extension, describes the diagnosis and treatment for chlorosis (http://extension.usu.edu/forestry/HomeTown/care_treatingIron.htm). A suggested treatment is an application of iron sulfate with an additional application of elemental sulfur. ENCAP’s Fast Acting Iron, supplies iron in a non-staining form along with elemental sulfur and gypsum, which can be applied in one easy treatment. It’s an effective way to treat these types of plant conditions. It’s also a great way to supply iron, calcium and sulfur to your lawns to help keep your lawn looking green without the excessive growth associated with conventional fertilizers.
