I've always found trying to have an even lawn under some trees to be a real challenge.

Would you say that there's a rule of thumb for knowing when it's not worth trying to grow grass under a tree?

Grass don't grow under the trees because there is no sunlight.

You can plant some foliage plants that grow well in shades, like anthuriums to cover up the baldness under the tree.

Yes, Ricardo. It's not worth trying to grow grass under the trees. But you can enjoy its shade. You can put some chairs and tables under the tree and enjoy a drink or two with your family and friends. or you can put a playhouse or string a hammock or a swing in the shade. You can add some kind of suitable flooring under the tree.

Hi!Ricardo,
I'm new member to this forum,
I can say that some grass can grow under tree in a shade to form an even lawn which doesn't need direct sunlight. You can nicely relax on that grass under the shade of a tree and enjoy the nature.
The grass i told about is "Carpet Grass" which is found everywhere in nurseries, only thing we have to do is water the grass well and use mud to grow it.
I would show you how i arranged my lawn in front of our hospital with that grass.

Shaded lawan have diferent requirements from lawans grown in full sunlight.A shaded lawan will have full sun for part of the day and rest of the day full shaded or it may receive filtered sunlight through canopy of the trees and leaves.by watering thoroughly or removing dry leaves which are fallen down from the trees. Remove all branches which are occured below 8 feet up the trunck like that you have to be very cautious about the shaded lawns....

I agree. You have to keep the area where you want the grass to grow clear of dead leaves, sticks, etc. all the time (at least until the grass grows in)

I never really thought about it like that, that the shaded area under the trees were harder to grow. When I attempted to grow grass on my lawn, I never really noticed because I couldn't get the grass grow anywhere. I guess I'll learn.

Arizona where it is really hot. Can't water the grass unless early morning or just before it starts getting dark. If you don't have a sprinkler system, you might as well kiss your grass goodbye.
