Movement-Control Technology (MCT)
The Fertilizer Runoff Prevention Issue
The US needs a means of holding applied fertilizers in place to help stop movement of nutrients into the environment, to address the growing public concern, and to avoid the enormous expenses related to such occurrences.
The Solution
Implement a prevention measure whereby fertilizers sold either contain a movement control element or that a movement control element is applied to the soil along with the given fertilizers.
The Measure
Utilize existing Movement Control Technologies™ (MCT™) to help prevent fertilizer/nutrient runoff, leaching and loss.
Current fertilizer technology controls the rate of release of nutrients. New Movement Control Technologies™ (MCT™) are designed to create an interaction between the fertilizer, lime and/or other nutrient products and the microenvironment of the soil around it. By controlling the soil base, and maximizing the interface between the soil and the product, the MCT™ help ensure nutrients and soil conditioners are properly managed.
To accomplish this, the MCT™ is either incorporated directly into the targeted (fertilizer) products, or applied to the soil in conjunction with (separate from) the targeted (fertilizer) product as a prevention/control product. In either case, once the technologies are activated by water, the technologies begin to go to work, holding both the nutrients and soil base in place.
